Desert Research Grants (Anza-Borrego Foundation)

Two research scholarship opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students conducting field studies within southwestern deserts and the Peninsular Ranges of southern California.

The application deadline is December 3, 2018. Application guidelines are available at www.theabf.org/research-grants. Proposals will be evaluated for scholarly merit, project design and feasibility, and contribution to the future of conservation in the region. Awards will be made on or before January 14, 2019. Researchers must obtain all necessary permits for conducting their research.

The Paul Jorgensen Bird Research Grant

This competitive grant program assists undergraduate and graduate students conducting ornithology field studies in our southwestern deserts. Grants of up to $2,000 will be awarded annually to assist college students with costs associated with field work for bird research. Costs can include equipment, supplies, and travel. Research within the Colorado Desert and/or state parks of the region may receive special consideration in the award process.

The Howie Wier Conservation Grant

This competitive grant program assists graduate students conducting field studies in ecology, systematics, evolutionary biology, and conservation biology in the Colorado Desert and Peninsular Range region of southern California. Grants of up to $2,500 will be awarded annually to assist graduate students with travel, supplies, equipment and other costs associated with field work.
