Workshop - Sustainable Agricultural Lands Conservation Program (SALC)

Please see the email below and the attached flier for the June 17th Sustainable Agricultural Lands Conservation Program (SALC) Workshop sponsored by the California Department of Conservation in collaboration with the Greater San Diego and Inland Empire Resource Conservation Districts.

SALC is a program managed by the California Department of Conservation (DOC) that provides planning grants to support the protection of critical agricultural land with the development of local and regional land use policies, economic development strategies, and water and other resource conservation strategies. Planning grants are intended to assist communities in developing consensus-based plans that support policies and projects that maintain the economic viability of the community’s agricultural industry, protect the agricultural land base, and avoid greenhouse gas emissions.

The purpose of the workshop is for participants to learn more about SALC grants and to engage leaders from across the region who have deep knowledge about how to best retain our valuable agricultural lands and important farming industry. The workshop will bring together people from local organizations, government agencies, land trusts, and others to introduce SALC. Discussions will focus on exploring what projects are possible with the funding, potential collaborations or partnerships, and the technical assistance opportunities that are available for SALC grant applications.
