Job Opportunity - Biologist III (AECOM)

AECOM is seeking a highly motivated Biologist for immediate employment with our southern California Natural Resources Group in the San Diego, CA office. This position would support numerous projects in the region with a focus on preparing technical reports, Biological Assessments, sections of NEPA and CEQA documents, Habitat Conservation Plans and other permitting support. Field work may be required. A strong background in wildlife biology and/or botany is desired. Primary duties include being primary author on complex technical documents for large-scale projects, analyzing historical studies and data, synthesizing compiled datasets, collaborating with a large team of technical experts on strategies and permitting approaches, and supporting project managers. Familiarity with Sections 7 and 10 of the federal Endangered Species Act, 2081 permitting under the California Endangered Species Act, NEPA, CEQA, and the Clean Water Act are required.

Surveys for wildlife, plants, and/or vegetation may also be required. Expertise with electronic data collection along with the ability to work in challenging and rugged terrain and occasional out of town travel is required. A 10(a)(1)(A) permit for listed species local to southern California is preferred, including for Quino checkerspot butterfly, California gnatcatcher, fairy shrimp, and/or southwestern willow flycatcher amongst others. Additional duties may include assisting on botanical surveys and vegetation mapping. Position will support multiple project managers on a variety of projects such as utility, military, transportation, and renewable energy sectors.
